Bi-lateral conference with the Philippines

Throughout the Bi-lateral conference with the Philippines, I learnt so many new things.  One of the main ones that really made me appreciate my situation is that they are still in lockdown, while my life has pretty much turned back to normal and I am able to move around freely.  They are still unable to go back to school and are continuing online school, like how I was back in May. The students told us that they are noticing a drop in their grades because they are lacking motivation and are severely missing going out.

I learnt a lot of new things throughout their presentation such as many issues I honestly had no idea about, or were actually affecting our planet. For example, I learnt that the Dolomite sand effects the respiratory system. This is because all the mangroves along the shorelines were removed and replaced with artificial sand that is endangering the lives of many species as well as making it uninhabitable for marine life. The PowerPoint that the Philippines presented was done very professionally and was full of really informative and valid information, which was something that we could definitely have improved on.  However, one thing that was very similar was both countries were very passionate and knew a fair bit about their case study. Overall, this conference was really great to be apart of and was such a great learning experience!
