Ava, Townsville, Australia: My Carbon Footprint

Nov 2, 2020 by Ava Granshaw, Townsville, Australia

My carbon footprint (10,108 kg) is below Australia's average carbon footprint (11,771 kg), however it is almost three times more than the worldwide average of 3,791 kg. When comparing my carbon footprint in categories, it can be seen that my carbon totals are lower than the carbon totals of my region in three out of four categories with transportation being the only category that I have exceeded the national average. This is due to the fact that I live 20 minutes away (approximately 27 km) from school therefore I cannot walk to and from school. My family does not travel overseas often due to economic costs, so the main reason that my carbon emissions for transportation is almost double the national average is due to our constant and daily travel to and from school. To decrease my carbon emissions I can carpool with other friends and family members to reduce the amount of travel by car and possibly stay closer to school during the week.

I can relate to the living-away-from-school thing... after all, this is about making the life-style changes that best fit our lives...
I hope you are doing well
Greetings from Greece :)
