My carbon footprint was much lower than the average for the State of Georgia by about 2.5 times. My carbon footprint was 2 times as high as the worldwide average. All my carbon footprint categories were half or lower than the State of Georgia.
The largest activity in my daily life is home. I think its home because I use a lot of technology and air conditioning during the summer. Another activity that I do in my daily life is food. I think this is a large carbon footprint because I have meat every day and eat three meals a day.
Something that my family can change to lower my carbon footprint is riding bikes more, eating less meat, and not using tech as much. Things I have control over is using tech less. Another thing I have control over is riding my bike more to get to places. A thing I don’t have control over is my parents using cars too much.
Something that shocked me was how low my transportation was on my Carbon footprint. I was shocked because I travel a lot and ride in the car quite a bit. Another thing that shocked me was how high home was on the footprint. It was surprising to me that it was so high because I didn’t think we used that much power in our home.
I think people living in large cities have a smaller carbon footprint because in big cities lots of people use subways. And subways are electric so it leaves a smaller carbon footprint. I think people living in a rural community have a larger carbon footprint because they use cars a lot more than a large city

Hello Tobin-
It is so fantastic to see how much you lowered your carbon footprint compared to the average amount .
Also I am wondering how you are continuing with your promise to reducing your use of technology and riding more often. Would love to hear that it is going well.

Hello Tobin, it is great to see how much lower your carbon footprint is in contrast to the regional amounts. Despite your regional carbon footprint being exceptionally high, it is still great to see how much difference there is between them which means that slowly but surely, your making change.
Hey Tobin,
I enjoyed reading about your carbon footprint, I do have a question though;
- Will you commit to using less technology and riding your bike more often, as you stated?
Although subways are used in big cities, cars are also used frequently as people often prefer to have their own car for personal use whenever it suits them. Home was also definitely my largest carbon footprint activity as technology is used regularly as it is easy to access and enjoyable. It’s understandable that you do not have control over how often your parents use your car, but maybe suggest a family bike ride somewhere or maybe a walk as this enhances social and physical activity and creates no carbon footprint.

Hi Tobin,
I found your blog really interesting.
I agree with what you said about people in rural places
having a higher carbon footprint as they use transportation and machinery on
their properties and to get into the nearest town. Townsville is quite a large
city as it has a population of 178,860 people but we don’t have subways which
means that we also have quite a large carbon footprint as a city. Our main
forms of transport are bikes which don’t have negative impact on the
environment and cars + busses which both have a negative impact on the
environment.
