Chloe, Townsville, Australia: Carbon Footprint

Globalization   Sep 18, 2020 by Chloe Giles

My carbon footprint is above the average of an Australian, 11,771kgs and worldwide, 3,791 kgs, at 14,452 kgs. Most of the kgs that is used is from the food that is provided in my household. This is mainly because vegetarian meals are not usually eaten, while salad and vegetables are always provided with meals meat is usually always eaten. So more kgs are used because of the greenhouse gas emissions produced by growing, rearing, farming, processing, transporting, storing, cooking and disposing of the food. The questions in that the carbon footprint challenge applied consisted of how the food is disposed and my household does not use composting and only sometimes recycles tins and alfoil. The kgs is also affected by the use of travelling to school, hobbies and work, but also when travelling from Townsville to Brisbane it takes 18hrs and is 1335km to drive. The home kgs usage is quite high which most likely is from the fact of the use of fans as for most of the year Townsville is humid. Though lights and fans are always turned off when not in a room to decrease electricity usage. When creating this carbon footprint I have learnt that I need to consider using different, more environmentally safe transportation. Also to recycle and reuse useful objects like plastic water bottles, tins and start composting.
