June 5, 2020 Under the moral patronage of UNESCO, TakingITGlobal and the Centre for Global Education coordinate the #Decarbonize:#Decolonize global youth project. This project is a mobilization of student learning and action across 35 high schools throughout the Global North & Global South, in the world’s largest synthesis of education and action focused on climate change by youth under eighteen. Youth participants engage in dialogue through a variety of learning activities and skill development tools, including discussion boards, blog posts, posting art to an online global gallery, creating project action maps, and developing/managing action and advocacy campaigns. This project culminates in a student representative from each of the participating nations engaging in a five-day synthesis process ahead of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP).
