Environment   Nov 18, 2020 by Reece Alberich

Unfortunately I could not make it to the meeting, however I got to hear what my class discussed with the Philippines. They explained how we both had different current school environments. The Philippines were still in lockdown while we were gathered in a room. Things started slow but we had created a back and forth conversation with question for each other. We spoke about unconventional gas exploration in Victoria which has issues like other fossil fuels. The Philippines had a presentation about dolomite mining at Pugalo, Cebu. They told us all about the negative effects of dolomite and how it was being used to improve the looks of Manilla Bay. Some of the effects are damaged Marine life, loss of mangroves and the respiratory, eye and skin damage that can be caused to humans. The similarities were how both problems need assistance from the government. I was told lots about their country and how well researched and detailed it was.
