Taylor Doyle, Townsville, Australia

I learned that the other students are still in lockdown due to Corona Virus, they are unable to go to school and must continue online schooling like we used to. They are also feeling as though online schooling is affecting their overall grades due to the lack of motivation. I learned that there are many issues that are occurring in the Philippines that I had no idea about. For example Dolomite sand that affects the respiratory system because mangroves were removed and artificial sand was dumped onto the shores of Manila bay which is endangering life. Their case study was similar due to the outlay and general information on the power point. There were more differences due to the professionalism of the Philippines as there power point was spoken very well and had a lot of valid information, more information than ours. Similar challenges between the Philippines and Townsville include needing Government intervention for money and change to happen and having smaller ways to help the issue such as signing petitions and donating money to organisations. The issues are also affecting the community the same because it targets the respiratory system due to hazardous chemicals.  Differences between the Philippines and Townsville include the fact that the issues talked about affects a large city while the other area impacted was a smaller city, one was offshore while the other was onshore.

Hi I am a student from Calgary Canada, I found it interesting how the issues in the Philippines and Townsville  have similarity even though they are far away from each other. Even from Canada we can relate about the issues of chemicals effecting our city's.
