Bilateral Collaboration-- Australia

Nov 12, 2015 by AHSofChungHsingTW-18

We connected with Australia on 10/31. We talked about the situations and the actions we can take in both Taiwan and Australia. This video conference allowed us to understand the conditions and compare the differences.

The students in Australia canoed across the river to observe the mangrove facing the danger of being submerged, and they went to dolphin watching as well. These two species are the victims of climate change. Since Taiwan is an isolated island (considering the location of Taiwan),  we have diverse ecosystem and various kind of species. (Formosan Landlocked Masu Salmon, Formosan Salamander, Taiwan Cypress, etc) And this is why the climate crisis makes more serious impacts on Taiwan. Gradually, aside from animals and plants, human beings will become the next victims suffering from climate change.

We discuss some actions and policies. For examples: vegetarian diet, footprint quiz, harsher punishments on the companies violating the laws related to environment, and the policies about imposing carbon taxes or raising the price of plastic bags. After connecting with Australia, we had video conferences with South America, Hong Kong and Canada. We integrated ideas from students in different countries. I hope that everyone seeing the post can make a comment on it.
