"Speech is power, speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Environment   Oct 27, 2015 by Rediet

So finally this year the United Nations are coming together in Paris for a crucial climate change conference. The goal? To make both international and national laws and policies to keep the Earth's temperature from increasing by anymore than the two degrees it already has. People such as the Pope have spoken and younger role models like One Direction. If real progress is to be made the world should be teaching the youth as we are the ones who will be living the philosophy of a clean and sustainable future and the potential consequences if we don't make that our mantra. Australia is going to be one of the first countries to be the hardest hit. We have already had the warmest summer on record in 2014, we have seen drought, bushfires and floods, we are already seeing sign of potential wildlife endangerment like the precious Great Barrier Reef and South Australia's personal Port River. I live on on Kanagroo Island which is just below Australia, there is nothing between Antartica and my island. In terms of wildlife sanctuary and conservation and tourism, Kangaroo Isaland is a rose amongst the thorns. Now when sea level rises I don't want my beloved home to go under like the reality of many people's homes. This is the eleventh hour. Paris 2015 could not come any sooner. Let's start saving the world. Spread the word!
