In the class Environmental systems and Societies my group, Hermine, Alessandra, and I did a project related to climate change in our country. The objective of Climate Change in my Backyard was to find images to represent how climate change is impacting Ghana and to represent how Ghana is impacting climate change. My group came up with five different aspects that we put into pictures for each section. We took a collection of pictures and drawings to represent these issues. One example of how climate change impacts ghana is that there is an increase in deseases. With the increase in temperatures we found that more misquotes are around humans. This then results in more cases of malaria. An example of how Ghana impacts climate change that we noticed was construction. As it increases the pollutants in the air. Construction is very apparent in Accra. From completing this project we are more aware of how my community is being affected by climate change. This made us think of a drastic event that occurred recently. There was a factory that became flooded during one of the wet seasons. This was something that we realized was affected by climate change, that the dry and wet seasons are more extreme. Now that we have explored the impacts of climate change we see that it influences us personally. This makes us more aware of the repercussions this issue can have, and thus makes us more mindful of how as individuals we need to try and help reduce our environemental footprint.
