Our class topic was the REDD and forests - Balancing Forest Management and Land Rights of Traditional Peoples. Our country is Canada. Our pairing country is Brazil. The topic relates to my country because there are indigenous people in Canada. Through all of the commotion between realizing that climate change is real, I feel like our government is neglecting the First Nations. They don't seem to realize that it affects them the most. When the weather gets warmer than normal, refugee camps are not exactly the greatest place to be. I believe that more land rights should be given to these people, in order to ensure they are still able to survive through global warming
