Climate change affects Taiwan in many ways.
Because of the subtropical high pressure, the average temperature is gradually rising at about 1~1.5 Celsius each year. Apart from the temperature rising, air pollution is another serious problem. Also, due to the rise of sea level and decease of land area, water pollution and sediments from the ground shouldn’t be overlooked. What’s more, the average annual rainfall dramatically changes recently, and drought, mud flood and soil acidification can be seen everywhere in Taiwan, which severely influences agriculture in Taiwan.
Due to global warming, the average temperature is gradually rising, which results in the spread of some diseases, such as dengue fever. Dengue fever, which only happens in areas between the tropic of cancer and the tropic of capricorn, tends to shift northward to higher latitude. In Taiwan, dengue fever has spread from the south area to the north. So far, more than ten people have died of dengue fever, which has a serious impact on Taiwan. Moreover, global warming also leads to the increase of the number of storms. In addition, the rain season has been shortened, and the length of drought has been lengthened.
Another change is the urban heat island effect, which results from the increasing of concrete buildings, the high rate of energy using, and the impact of basin brings about some influences to our lives. First, the time we turn on the air conditioners becomes longer than before, which aggravated global warming. Second, due to the tremendous increasing of waste each year, which produce a lot of dioxin that let the air pollution problems become more serious.

Wow! What a great summary of problems that Taiwan are facing as a result of climate change! Another major issue is sea level rise due to melting ice. Taiwan will also have many coastal areas that will be flooded and this land will be lost.
I never knew this about Taiwan it is interesting to hear about climate in Taiwan and compare it to Canada's changing climate.
