This website is run by The Guardian newspaper. In this particular article, it states that Australia will be the country that will be the most affected by climate change. Using present and past information from the CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology, they have predicted that Australia’s temperature will rise more than 5 °c by the end of the century. This would mean that Australia would overtake the rest of the world’s rate of warming experience unless extreme actions are done to reduce greenhouse gases. By 2090, it is predicted that the rest of the word’s temperature will rise to 2.6°c but Australia will increase by 4.8°c.

In the article, it includes short facts about how the Australian climate has changed since 2007. Facts such as “Rising temperatures will result in a “greater number of days with severe fire danger”. Meanwhile, soil moisture will fall by up to 15% in southern Australia in the winter months by 2090” and “The interior of Australia is set to warm more rapidly than coastal areas. Alice Springs will experience an average of 83 days a year over 40C in 2090, up from just 17 in 1995”. All these facts

In 2014, Australia experienced its third warmest year on record; also in 2013 Australia experienced its warmest year on record. All these statistics were gathered from the Bureau of Metrology. With using these statistics to compare Australia’s average temperatures and the rest of the world’s temperatures, you can truly see how Australia is the most affected by climate change.

Great review there.

Raising awareness about this issue and joining the social movements that are more active than ever can actually help cooling down Australia and the whole planet. We have to remember that we have a deadline to take major steps so we we can avoid the disasters.
