Hot in my Backyard

Environment   Oct 25, 2015 by Jatinder Kumar Saini

The audio file-Hot in my Backyard, tells us about what lies in store for us if we continue to neglect the problem of changing weather patterns and climate change. With recent disasters like the Hurricane Sandy, which the audio talks of in great details, and others natural disasters, it is clear that our current efforts are not enough to meet and face the challenge of climate change. And our continued ignorance and disdainfulness does not augur well for the human community too; as is clear from the suffering and misery of the people who faced the terrible Hurricane Sandy. But the misery, sadness, suffering must not deter us from taking individual action and taking measures at our own level to combat this problem. Rather it should inspire and motivate us to mobilize each and everyone around us to contribute to the cause. This is exactly what people like Nolan Doesken and Bob Inglis are doing. We must realize, just like Nolan did, that climate change is not a problem of the future. It is a problem that we must work on, because we are the ones who shape and forge the future. Similarly, we must learn from Bob that the negativity and pessimism of a few people must not distract us from our goal, and that we should continue pursuing our objectives irrespective of how many hurdles and obstacles we face. In addition, it is important to acknowledge the efforts of Mr. Bill McKibben because it is absolutely essential to hold all those entities which our contributing to the degradation of the environment, accountable. It takes courage and conviction to stand up for the right cause, just like these three personalities did. And this is exactly what we must do to take our cause forward.
