Climate Change

After reading this article, I realised how big of a risk climate change is and how rapidly it is happening. The world is continually emitting more and more greenhouse gases and burning fossil fuels. The average temperature is said to be 1.3°C warmer in Australia by 2030 and between 2.8°C and 5.1°C by 2090. Australia is already noticing these heat changes, with 2013 being the hottest year on record and 2014 being the third. It is said to be that humans contribute to these rapid heat changes, as they have been releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Many extreme weather issues are expected, including a rise in temperature, increase of drought and decrease of rainfall and snow throughout Australia. Although the warmth may seem like a benefit, it will increase deaths from heatwaves, water resource related problems and risks towards agricultural areas and coastal infrastructure.

I believe greenhouse gases need to be reduced, as carbon emissions are a major contributor towards climate change. The Earth’s ozone layer is relatively thin, and these emissions are destroying it, leading to the Earth to be exposed to the suns heat to a great extent. Humans are responsible for the increase of greenhouse gas effects since the amount of carbon emissions has increased rapidly.

It is not a simple issue to fix over night, but with the collaboration and communication skills by experts in the field, scientists and the nation little changes can be done. Different ways of getting energy are an option, in which do not harm the earth. Any person can contribute to stop global warming in every day tasks to reduce their carbon footprint. Walking instead of driving, using public transport or changing to solar powered energy. Advertising is a vital part of allowing such a task to work. The world needs to know what is happening and the consequences that follow. They also need to know how they can help and what they can do to help minimize any damage.
