UNFCCC- What is it and why we must take action?

Oct 14, 2015 by Raeesa

The UNFCCC is an international environmental treaty. Its aim is to recruit as many countries as possible to participate in stabilizing greenhouse gases in our atmosphere and prevent them from accumulating at dangerous levels. The reason they want to regulate greenhouse gases is to prevent them from interfering with our climate system. Currently the treaty doesn't limit greenhouse gases for particular countries and they do not have any enforcement either, but I believe that should be changed and this treaty should take more action. Right now, there is 196 parties involved, but the treaty is striving to be more universal and include more countries. I believe that all countries should strive to be part of this international treaty and work to reduce our greenhouse emissions as much as possible and help to save our environment.

I like this post, I believe that it contained lots of information that can be useful to us. With some work we might be able to spread this to all parts of the world. This would greatly benefit the human race as a whole.

I completely agree with you. I also believe that all countries should work together to bring about change towards climate change. Taking more action towards reducing greenhouse gases is one of the first steps to reduce human impact on climate change. Because of greenhouse gases, the Earth is getting warmer and causing global warming and holes in our ozone layer to form quicker.  By doing small things like riding bikes or cutting back on using industrialized products makes a huge difference to reduce our production of greenhouse gases. With that being said, we simply cannot rely on one country or one organization to take steps into bringing change towards the formation of climate change. All countries should put in their best effort into doing things to help bring about change and stop climate change from occurring. If we all work together and do simple things, our world will be one step closer in stopping the harmful effects of climate change and ultimately disappearing the problem of climate change forever!!

I really enjoyed reading your blog post, it was very informative and I agree completely with your hopes for the treaty to apply to all countries. Even though it may take some time and work, I do believe it is possible to spread this treaty to every part of the world.

I agree with your points, but reducing greenhouse emissions is not possible for all countries. Reducing greenhouses would help the environment, but would it benefit the country? I think not all the countries are participating because it does not benefit them. Although it saves our environment, not everyone is willing to protect the earth from their wants and needs.
