Sustainable World

Environment   Sep 24, 2015 by Yasmin

What is your vision for a sustainable world?

There are many different visions for a sustainable world. My vision would be a version of all the other visions out there. That would mean it would contain:

- A developed world were everyone has access to non-renewable energy

- Having sustainable energy were everyone in the world can have access to

- Speaking to organisations and people who have the power to change the world and to make these changes instead of forgetting about them, so in other words, taking advantage of them

- Making sure everyone knows about having a non-sustainable world and the disadvantages of that which will help motivate people to keep working towards having a sustainable world. This gives the opportunity for different groups of people to work together and to set goals which they will achieve

What are you planning to do to make this vision a reality?

One of the things I am planning on doing is reducing the amount of energy I use daily, which would start changing this world into a sustainable one. Also, I will try to reach and connect to the different organisations around me, even if they are small and not worldwide, but I will reach out to them and work together on different projects and goals. Another thing that I would do is start raising awareness to the different communities and people around me, which I know can help make a change and help spread the world about making it a sustainable world.

In order to attain this goal, you would need to expand your base of people that would work together to achieve this. Even though one person can change some things but, it would only make a miniscule change on a global scale. One person would not be able to convince people with high authority especially on an international scale. To be able to meet your goal, you would need first raise awareness about this issue to expand your "army" base and then get small communities to work together etc.

Hey i thought that your vision on a sustainable world had a great aim. One thing that stood out is how everyone having access to non-renewable resources makes a world sustainable in the first place. The use of non-renewable resources are one of the leading causes of climate change and global warming. I Think a lot of specific economic decisions need to be made before "a comfortable" or "first world privileged" life style is available for everyone .

I think your vision of how to have a sustainable world is really cool, but having a developed world where everyone has access to non renewable energy isn't easy to accomplish. We are already able to share our resources equally around the world, but we don't because the people who have more do not want to share with those who have less. No matter the amount of people that are on board, it doesn't matter unless those who have more than enough are willing to share. Everything we do will make a difference, but nothing will ever completely change. But I do hope in the future that the everyone in the world will be able to have non renewable energy and just have a sustainable as a whole.

I think your vision for a sustainable world is great! All of the points you made would make the world a much better place. As for making this a reality, I think starting small is a great idea. Raising awareness will definitely help make your idea come to life.

Great points Yasmin! I specifically like the last paragraph about reaching out for local groups and organizations to make incremental changes in your community. It's extremely important to understand climate change as a global problem, but it's also crucial to focus on local solutions. Good job!
