Environment   Sep 21, 2015 by Rele

How do these simulations relate to your community? Do any of them feel irrelevant to your context?

The first simulation shows how each of us have an impact on the environment, we being consumers each have a different footprint in our society. From this we can see what we as individuals can improve to make our current situation better. However, the fact that we are still young adults, things like paying taxes or managing water and transport are irrelevant to our current situation.

The second simulation applies to us in a way that we are affected by the decisions made by the leaders in our community. We elect these leaders to make positive growth in our society for a better future for the next generations. This also may not apply to our current situation because our worldview is not the same as an adults worldview, therefore we will not think or act in the same way as one.

How do these simulations help you (or not help you) find your place in combatting climate change?

The first simulation helps us because it alerts us about what we, as individuals can do to prevent climate change. It doesn’t help us because some of the factors that affect climate change are out of our control, like what food we eat and our form of transportation.

The second simulation helps us because it allows us to see a different point of view on climate change. It shows what our leaders need to balance in order to maintain a safe environment, successful economy, and satisfied citizens. Though we can see the perspective of the leaders in our society, it doesn't help because in our society we have a limited effect on the government due to our current age.

Have these simulations changed how you think climate change should be tackled?

We think that both simulations change how we think about climate change because it gives us the perspective of a different way to tackle climate change, and how we have to improve as individuals for a healthier environment.

i feel that we thought the same thing as both of our blogs both state the same thing but the statement about how you don't have power at this point is wrong because even though you can't vote there are still a lot of thing you can do to change the environment for example you can go speak to to ur local riding constituent and explain to them your ideas or feeling. Also in the first simulation you said because you don't pay taxes you don't really have an idea how to manage you water consumption is wrong because you can do something as simple as taking shorter shower and turn of electronics and light when not in use also instead of driving short distance you can walk or bike.

I agree completely with your response to the first simulation, being young (and naive depending on who you ask) means we don't have to worry about certain things which could also potentially skew our perspective on something . Furthermore the way I find  the second simulation works is completely the same as your ideas.

I  agree with you on your first statement, I think that our world view is different than adults and certain things are irrelevant to people our age but for your second answer I believe that most of the factors that affect climate change are in out control. For an example for the food we eat instead of buying fresh fruits  at the market you can grow your own. I do realize that it would be harder to do this in winter but growing your fruits throughout the summer could certainly help slow down the climate change. Also transportation doesn't have to produce carbon emissions, you could walk or bike to school instead of taking a vehicle. If u live to far away you bus or carpool instead of driving by yourself. So in conclusion I agree with mostly all your answers except so the one that states some of the factors that affect climate change are out of our control.

I agree that the first simulation shows us how much impact we have on the environment. But, I there are a few points that I would like to add on to. For example, I agree that paying taxes or managing water/transport is irrelevant to us, but I want you to take a moment to think of the amount of difference it would make if we had to manage our bills and taxes.
