Hong Kong, an international country where people say this is where the east meets the west. Many people see things here as profit and gains and ignore the potential damage that is dealt with the climate. Therefore there is some difficulty in convincing and influencing the people around me about climate change.
Global warming and climate change are becoming more and more serious. In my opinion, it is a challenge for us in Hong Kong to change this. Climate change has affected Hong Kong in four main factors. They are temperature increase, raise of average sea level, the increase of average rainfall, and very extreme weather events. Even though Hong Kong is not one of the 166 countries that signed with the UNFCCC, scientists predict that if no global action is taken, the temperature in Hong Kong will steadily rise a few degrees per year and at that rate in about a century, Hong Kong will have various diseases, typhoons, and floods.
This information got many people very worried in Hong Kong as many people are already taking action to decrease their carbon footprint. In the next 10 years, Hong Kong government has plans to cut the energy intensity to make Hong Kong a country that contributes in fighting global warming
