I understand climate change to be a serious issue that needs immediate attention. By looking at Science agency the CSIRO and Bureau of Meteorology predict a temperature rise of up to 5.1°C in Australia by 2090, this being the most comprehensive forecast yet.
The temperature rise is dependent upon greenhouse gas emissions and whether they can be cut. According to “business-as-usual” the burning of fossil fuels are set to hurt Australia more than any other country in the world, which means the average temperature increase of 2.6°C to 4.8°C by 2090 will greatly affect both Australian people and the environment.
If there continues to be little action taken, weather conditions will become more extreme and our current way of living will be a thing of the past. Last year Australia had it third-warmest year on record, highlighting that change is already occurring and that immediate action needs to be taken.
