This article by The Guardian discusses how Australia in particular will be affected by climate change, due to its geographical position in the world, and how this will have significant effects on our environment. The seas surrounding Australia are predicted to raise in temperature between 2C and 4C without intervention, the lengths of droughts may increase by 5-20%, and sea levels will rise by 45-82cm by 2090. Alice Springs in the centre of Australia is expected to increase from an average of 17 days a year above 40C in 1995 to 83 days a year in 2090, extreme rainfall may increase by 69% for the majority of Australia by 2090, and a greater number of days of extreme fire danger.
This article has helped me to understand the significance of climate change for the country I live in, and why it is so important to reduce carbon emissions in order to slow the impact.

A very nice and compact review of the article. Australia as one of the largest areas that is going to be affected by climate change can lead the way in raising awareness and taking firm actions. The point of this article is not to scare people of their future, but to awaken all parts of society to keep this issue on top of their priorities list. Let's hope it works out:)
