The article "6 ways climate change will affect PH cities" clearly explains the most serious changes that will be occurring due to climate change, and was written by Pina Ranada in 2014.
The possible serious changes that will affect cities include:
A more intense El Ninõ is an affect of climate change and is when the surface areas of the ocean waters in the south Pacific become increasingly warmer.
Another aspect of climate change is the expected rise of sea temperatures, between 1 and 4ºC. In the Philippines higher ocean temperatures have been recorded, which can lead to the death of coral reefs and a decline in the fish catch.
The shift in the Ph levels in the oceans can lead to oysters not developing shells, shrimps not developing skins and the death of coral reefs. The ocean acidification is a serious aspect that will significantly affect the ocean marine life.
Tropical cyclones have already been recorded and observed and are destroying devastated cities in areas such as Visayas. Also due to the intensification of the tropical cyclones, there will be an increase in the rainfall, river flow and flooding in the Philippines. Monsoon rainfall will reach new highs and lows, resulting in extreme droughts and floods occurring in the same country.
