Port River Cruise

Oct 28, 2015 by wilderness-mross

On the Tuesday the 20th of October 2015, the year 11 biology students travelled to Port Adelaide to see how climate change is locally affecting us.

The bus first stoped at the garden Island public boat ramp where we walked down the jetty and saw and discussed the mangroves. When investing the mangroves we were fortunate enough to see multiple pods of dolphins swimming in the water.

We were then taken on a dolphin cruise where we investigated the effects of climate change  along the port river. During the journey to the cruise it was evident how many factors were located down at the port and it soon become very obvious of the pollution and rubbish these factories were producing.

During the cruise factories lined the shore and the amount of rubbish and pollution near the port river became very concerning as the port river is full of marine life. Pods of dolphins often swam next to our boat and it became worrying to realise how these creatures were being affected by the pollution occurring close by.

This experience was very informative and eye-opening as it gave us an insight as to how pollution and climate change is effecting us locally.
