CLIMATE CHANGE IN MY BACKGROUND

Oct 21, 2015 by wilderness-cdavidson

In Australia, the issue of climate change is greatly affecting the temperatures and climate. With the ozone layer thinning above Australia, many harmful events will continue too occur around the country. These include excessive drought, extreme rainfall, decreased snow, and rising sea levels; with central Australia being affected the most dramatically. One of the most severe consequences will be a rise in temperature, with an estimated days over 40°C almost doubling in several areas around the country by 2090. It will also affect one of Australia’s most famous ecosystems, The Great Barrier Reef, with the excess carbon dioxide in the air causing the water to become too acidic and thus killing the animals and plants residing in the reef. It is essential that Australia get on board with combating climate change in order to preserve our wildlife and prevent damage to farming and industrial areas. I think that in order to achieve this, we must focus on tackling the issue on a local level. The citizens of Australia need to be aware of the significant damage that climate change in causing and the small things that they can do to fix it, such as simple things like turning off power at the switch. It is essential that everyone is involved, because large amounts of support and work are the only way that the harmful affect of climate change and global warming can be reduced, and ideally stopped.
